Knox United Church, a fine example of Late Gothic Revivalism, was designed by JHG Russel. The sanctuary with its vaulted ceiling has great acoustics. Japanese Christians were welcomed in during the time of their internment and have a long history at Knox. Today, the church is a vital community hub for immigrants, refugees, indigenous and other Canadians, hosting many community groups. The church and central park have been spiritually linked for decades, and the market started by Knox was a main catalyst in the park revitalization.
