The Stand! movie musical (the #1 Canadian film during its release) is the film adaptation of Danny Schur & Rick’s Chafe’s award-winning musical Strike!. Set against the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike, it is the story of Ukrainian immigrants fleeing from Russia’s war on Ukraine, trying to make a better life in Winnipeg. The screening will be held in the historic Burton Cummings (AKA “Walker”) Theatre – site of a famous General Strike meeting. Admission is free, with a special Q & A after the screening. Popcorn and beverages will be sold. Guests are invited to dress like it’s 1919.

Please note only the main floor is wheelchair accessible, while the first and second balconies are NOT.

To help keep our community safe, wearing a face mask is required.

Doors open at 6:00pm with the movie starting at 7:00pm. The movie is 110 minutes in length with a maximum 1250 guests.

Registration is NOT required to take part in this event. The event will operate on a first come, first served basis.
