The Université de Saint-Boniface is the oldest educational institution in Western Canada, tracing its origins back to 1818. The Collège has been located at its present site since 1922, following a tragic fire which cost the lives of ten people, and razed the 1880 building to the ground. The present University building was designed by architect J.O. Turgeon of Montreal, in the Greco-Roman style. Mainly recognized for its magestic dome, which is difficult to access, it was once said to the the perfect place for students to hide with beer and cigarettes! Come and visit the dome!

L’Université de Saint-Boniface est le plus ancien établissement d’enseignement universitaire de l’Ouest canadien qui peut retracer ses origines à 1818. L’Université occupe son édifice actuel depuis 1922, à la suite d’un incendie tragique qui a coûté la vie à dix individus, et qui a rasé l’édifice construit en 1880. L’édifice est conçu par l’architecte J.O. Turgeon de Montréal dans le style gréco-romain. Reconnue pour sa coupole majestueuse qui aurait été le lieu de rencontre des jeunes collégiens qui voulaient boire de la bière et fumer des cigarettes en cachette! Venez visiter la Coupole!

Guided tours will run every 20 minutes starting at 11:00am, with the last tour departing at 4:30pm. Tours will be approximately 20 minutes in length with a maximum 12 guests. Tours will explore the main entrance, the chapel and the dome. No registration required!
